"The group led by Qumandan Sarbaz who were active against government in parts of Baghlan province over the past couple of years handed over their weapons to police in Baghlan-e-Markazi district today morning and vowed to defend the government efforts for peace in the country," district governor Khanzada Mazlomyar told reporters here.

Previously a Taliban prominent member Mawlawi Islamuddin alias Qari Bilal has given up fighting in the northern Takhar province and four more Taliban fighters handed in their weapons to police in the western Ghor province over the past 24 hours.
