PRAGUE, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Czech Republic is considering to introduce a fourth mobile operator into the country, Prime Minister Andrej Babis said here Tuesday.

He said talks with mobile telephone operators from the U.S., Italy, France, the UK and South Korea will be held in March and April.

An auction of frequencies would take place by the end of December, and the winner is expected to receive the license in January or February 2020.

Babis also said he would put forward a draft amendment to the Electronic Communications Act on Wednesday for the cabinet to approve, which will remove the barriers for clients to switch between mobile operators.

At present, if a customer chooses to change the mobile operator, he must notify his intention in advance and wait 10 days for current operator to abolish the contract.

If the bill gets approved, clients would be able to cancel their agreements after two days, and they would be able to end a contract without paying any penalty after three months.

There has been a lot of discussions lately about the high prices for phone calls and mobile data usage. The government is trying to cut the cost for mobile services and provide a more competitive environment in the sector, said the government website.
