SEOUL, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- South Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) have agreed to hold working-level talks later this week on healthcare and medical cooperation, South Korean unification ministry said Monday.

Baik Tae-hyun, unification ministry spokesman, told a press briefing that the two Koreas will hold working-level talks Wednesday at the joint liaison office in the DPRK's border town of Kaesong.

During the talks, the two sides would discuss cooperation in healthcare and medical affairs, including the exchange of influenza-related information during wintertime, and information on infectious diseases for the next year.

The three-member South Korean delegation will be led by Kwon Jun-wook, a director-general with the health and welfare ministry. Kwon's DPRK counterpart will be Kim Yun Chol, an official with the health ministry.

It was a part of efforts to implement the agreement reached after the working-level talks in early November, when the two sides agreed to exchange information on contagious diseases on a trial basis to jointly prevent the outbreak and spread of infectious diseases.
