JAKARTA, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian government decided to scrap tax for foreign yachts, aimed at tapping the highly potential visits of foreign yachts, a senior minister said on Tuesday.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said that it would take into effect immediately this year.

Indonesia, which has set yacht tourism as a highly potential sector, has reformed several policies related to arrivals of yachts and cruise ships.

The government has simplified the CAIT (Cruising Application for Indonesian Territory) process to 3 hours from the previous period that may take weeks for yachts and cruise to get permission to visit Indonesia.

According to the data released by the Tourism Ministry, expenditure of foreign tourist with yacht may reach 500-1,000 U.S. dollars per day with an average stay of at least one month to sail across the islands in the archipelagic country.
