JAKARTA, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's neighbor Timor Leste gave 750,000 U.S. dollars in cash donation for victims of the earthquake and tsunami disasters in central Indonesia, the Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

The donation was handed over by Timor Leste Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak to Indonesian Ambassador Sahat Sitorus in the nation's capital of Dili.

Besides relief efforts, the fund was expected to help the rehabilitation and reconstruction process in the affected areas.

"This assistance fund was a form of Timor Leste people's deepest sympathy and solidarity for people in Palu and Donggala who were affected by earthquakes and tsunami," Taur was quoted as saying.

On the occasion, Indonesian Ambassador Sitorus said the donation would be delivered to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB).

The death toll from the strong quakes and an ensuing tsunami hitting Central Sulawesi province late last month has risen to 2,045 on Wednesday, a day before the search operation ended.
