YANGON, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi left Friday on a working visit to Japan and will attend the 10th Mekong-Japan Summit in Tokyo, said official sources.

Suu Kyi is paying a six-day visit to Japan and will hold bilateral talks with Abe on enhancement of bilateral relations and cooperation covering economy, investment and transport as well as Rakhine affairs, according to the Myanmar Foreign Ministry.

Aung San Suu Kyi visited Japan in November 2016 for the first time after Myanmar's new government took office in April in that year.

During that visit, Suu Kyi participated in a forum on public-private cooperation in the Mekong region. Abe pledged support to Myanmar's new government across the public and private sectors by providing about 800 billion yen (7.73 billion U.S. dollars) over five years to aid Myanmar's nation-building.
