BEIRUT, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese Prime Minister designate Saad Hariri said Tuesday that there will be no government formation this week, reiterating the need for sacrifice by all political parties to reach a consensus.

"If every political party attempts to eliminate the other, we will never be capable of forming a government in Lebanon. All parties must sacrifice to reach a consensus," Hariri said ahead of a meeting for Future Movement.

Hariri has been facing various hurdles in his attempt to form a 30-member national unity government, due to the rifts among rival politicians over the representation of the main Christian parties, as well as the Druze sect.

Lebanon's Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri urged earlier this month all political parties to compromise in a bid to reach a consensus in government formation amid economic deterioration.

"Lebanon's economy is in dire situation and everybody should compromise in a bid to reach a consensus and save the country's economic sectors from further deterioration," Berri said.
