Pakistan condemns terrorist attack at Afghani registration center

ISLAMABAD, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan on Sunday strongly condemned a terrorist attack at a voter registration center in a mosque in the eastern Afghan city of Khost which killed and injured scores of innocent people.

Afghan officials said that at least 12 people were confirmed dead and 23 others injured as a blast targeted a voter registration center inside a mosque in Khost, the capital of eastern Afghanistan's Khost province.

"We are distressed and grieved at the loss of precious human lives. We express our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of those who have lost their lives and pray for early recovery of the injured," said Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Faisal.

"We express our support and solidarity with the people and the government of Afghanistan in this hour of grief," he said in a statement.

The spokesman said Pakistan reiterates its condemnation of terrorism in all forms and manifestations and the resolve to eliminate this menace.
