ANKARA, May 4 (Xinhua) -- A Turkish cargo vessel slightly collided with a Greek warship in the Aegean Sea early Friday, with no injuries and casualties reported, Turkey's Transportation, Maritime and Communication Ministry said in a statement.

A Turkish-flagged 73-meter-long cargo vessel carrying more than 2,000 tons of cement from Turkey's Aegean Izmir province to northwestern Tekirdag, collided with a Greek warship off the Greek island of Lesbos at 4 a.m. local time (01:00 GMT).

According to the statement, neither ship was at risk of sinking, and no casualties or injuries were reported.

Greek media said, "Armatolos," the Greek navy gunboat, was on patrol during the NATO operation "Aegean Activity" to combat migration flows in the Aegean when the incident occurred.

Search and rescue centers between Turkey and Greece intensified coordination after the incident. The investigation is underway.
