Most working mothers in Taiwan feel stressed: survey

TAIPEI, May 3 (Xinhua) -- A majority of working mothers in Taiwan are anxious about their careers and their roles in the family, according to a survey report published on Thursday.

About 93 percent of 1,188 respondents said they are stressed, and about 85.7 percent say they cannot strike a balance between career and family, according to a survey conducted by local job-seeking website yes123.

Based on their self-evaluation, the average performance at work and as a mother was 73.6 and 52.3 points out of 100, respectively.

Some 77.7 percent said they "feel a sense of guilt" for not being with their children.

Many complained about the unfriendly workplace environment, as 62 percent had experienced difficulties in asking for leave from work for their children.

The population of working mothers in Taiwan was 2.73 million in 2016.
