ISTANBUL, May 2 (Xinhua) -- The screening of Chinese animated film Ne Zha 2 in Türkiye marks a milestone in the growing global influence of Chinese cinema and plays a key role in strengthening cultural exchange between China and Türkiye, said a sector insider.

The film debuts Friday in Turkish theaters, generating significant anticipation.

Onur Asa, general manager of CGV Mars Distribution, one of the major film distribution companies, said they chose Ne Zha 2 for Turkish audiences by blending the country's strong interest in mythology with the film's global success.

"We believe that with its striking visuals and universal themes, Ne Zha 2 will meet the expectations of Turkish moviegoers," Asa told Xinhua in a recent interview.

Inspired by ancient Chinese mythology, Ne Zha 2 follows a rebellious young hero with supernatural powers who defies fate to shape his own destiny.

Asa emphasized that the film's profound philosophical messages, particularly its exploration of inner struggle and social exclusion, offer viewers a chance for emotional resonance and identification.

According to Asa, the movie reintroduces Chinese mythological narratives through a modern cinematic lens, combining breathtaking visuals with fast-paced action, making it a compelling story for audiences of all ages.

"The visual storytelling and action-packed scenes transcend the language barrier, allowing Turkish audiences to fully immerse themselves in the experience," Asa said, adding that this compelling approach offers a rare glimpse into the rich world of Chinese mythology.

While CGV Mars Distribution has previously introduced various Chinese productions to Turkish audiences, Ne Zha 2 stands out as its most ambitious animated project to date. The film will be released in over 80 cinemas across the country, with its theater run to be determined by audience interest and demand.

With animation growing more popular in Türkiye, Asa expects Ne Zha 2 to resonate with a broad audience, from children to adults, and achieve strong box office performance.

CGV Mars Distribution is employing a multifaceted marketing strategy to promote Ne Zha 2, including social media campaigns, trailer screenings, and exclusive content.

Asa said that the company aims to expand the presence of Chinese cinema in Türkiye, with Ne Zha 2 serving as a key marker in the ongoing global push to introduce Chinese films to international audiences. ■
