SINGAPORE, June 28 (Xinhua)-- Singapore's Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) on Thursday announced it signed agreements with Boeing and Airbus respectively to jointly develop digital technologies.

According to the DSTA, it signed the first project agreement with Boeing to commence joint research and co-development in data analytics at the inaugural Singapore Defence Technology Summit.

Under the agreement, the two sides will jointly develop an information management tool leveraging data analytics to identify trends and insights on aircraft performance. The tool will analyse flight and maintenance data for the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF)'s F-15 and AH-64 aircraft. The findings will also be used to develop algorithms for predictive analytics for smarter maintenance and operations.

Also at the summit, the DSTA signed an agreement with Airbus Defence and Space, in a bid to pursue joint cooperation in exploiting advances in digital technologies, which will benefit the support for the RSAF's aircraft. The framework will allow DSTA and Airbus to pool their engineering expertise through collaborations on areas such as data analytics, augmented and virtual reality and 3D printing, according to the DSTA.

The DSTA is a statutory board set up under Singapore's Ministry of Defence. It implements defence technology plans, acquires defence material and develops defence infrastructure for the ministry. It organized the Singapore Defence Technology Summit, which is held from Wednesday to Friday.
