HAVANA, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Senior officials from Cuba and Spain met in Havana on Wednesday to prepare for upcoming talks that will guide bilateral ties over the next four years.

Ricardo Cabrisas, vice president of the Cuban Council of Ministers, and Fernando Garcia, the Spanish secretary of state for international cooperation with Ibero-America and the Caribbean, stressed their mutual interests during this new period of cooperation.

The forthcoming agreements will take into account the priorities established within Cuba's Economic and Social Development Plan until 2030.

During the meeting, Cabrisas highlighted the good state of relations between Havana and Madrid.

Spain is the foreign country with most companies operating in Cuba and is the island's third-largest trading partner, behind China and Venezuela.

Garcia is leading the Spanish delegation to the 37th session of Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), which is underway in Havana until Friday.

During his visit, Garcia will also hold talks with ECLAC's executive secretary Alicia Barcena, and Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca.
