WINDHOEK, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Namibia's senior women's soccer team lost to Zimbabwe 2-0 in the 2018 Confederation of African Football (CAF) African Women Cup of Nations qualifiers first-round match of the first leg, played in Windhoek on Thursday evening.

Namibia coach Brain Isaacs in a statement said that a lack of match fitness and poor concentration contributed to their downfall.

"We conceded two goals due to a lack of concentration, and you could see that our poor match fitness as well played a part in the match. At the break I told the ladies to believe and have more confidence and that showed a bit in the game but overall we could not create enough or score," he added.

Zimbabwe's goals came from Marjory Nyaumwe and Mavis Chirandu in either half to complete a comprehensive away win for the neighbours.

Meanwhile, the two teams on Friday have since jetted off to Zimbabwe to prepare for their April 8 return leg clash in Harare.

The winner will advance to the second round, where either Tanzania or Zambia awaits. The eventual winner books their tickets for the finals to be held in Ghana.
